The Physicо-Technological Institute of Metals and Alloys of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is a research institute within the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, located in Kyiv. The research activities of the Physical and Technological Institute of Metals and Alloys of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine are aimed at the study of physical and chemical processes during smelting, processing and hardening of alloys and the creation of technological bases for obtaining new materials, developing equipment and manufacturing metal products. About 300 employees work at the Institute, including two corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 19 doctors and 49 candidates of sciences. The structure of the Institute includes 12 scientific departments and several of auxiliary units.

The Institute publishes scientific journals: "Casting Processes", "Metal and Casting of Ukraine" and the Scientific Technical journal "Metal Science and Treatment of Metals" (Metaloznavstvo ta obrobka metalìv), which are included in category B of the List of Scientific and Professional Publications of Ukraine.

The Institute is the basic organization of the Association of Foundries of Ukraine. The Institute has maintained close business contacts with leading scientific centers, firms and enterprises in Ukraine and abroad for many years.

The Institute trains highly qualified scientific personnel through doctoral and post-graduate studies.

In the Physicо-Technological Institute of Metals and Alloys of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, there is a specialized academic council for the defense of doctoral (candidate) theses in the specialties: "Metallurgy of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and special alloys" and "Foundry production".
